WOW! I can't believe it's been almost 50 years!
After graduation, I stayed in Minnesota for a few years before moving to Wisconsin. Wading down a trout river I caught a man! lol
Joe was a Navy vet who had seen a Doberman for the first time in the South Pacific, thought it was the most beautiful dog he'd ever seen and that's what he was going to have when he got out. He and his first wife, bred, trained, showed, and judged Dobes, Boxers, and Great Danes. After she died he had gone with one of her sons to Wisconsin and that's when we met on the river.
I fell in love, moved to Michigan, and married. I sold real estate for a while outside of Dearborn (where the Ford Motor Company is headquartered), then he retired and we moved to West Michigan. We continued breeding and showing for a time, and I started a tax preparation and bookkeeping company, but then he had a catastrophic stroke and life changed.
Ten years later, he passed and I am retired, spending time on Facebook, building a new company helping others like me find a way to increase income, get healthy, and find a way to get on with the life we were left with instead of the life we expected to have.
All of the dogs from our breeding are gone now, but I do plan on getting another soon. If you were around my house when we were in school, you may remember I had a cat from one of our fellow classmates, Pat Thorup. That cat, of course is LONG gone but I do have cats still. Eight of them!
I live in the country outside of a small town (the county seat) and I love being here. Just minutes from Lake Michigan, the beaches are a great place to go for lunch and some sun, sand, and surf.
